POSTER CHILD FOR WAR…..MIDDLE EAST!

(Doug Bandow, Forbes, History Guy, BBC, Frazer Chronicle)

War, Civil War, conflict, skirmishes, Near East, Middle East, and Classical Antiquity are all related to what we today call a most troubling area, were conflict is ready to break out at almost a moment’s notice. What has made the area such a tinder box for human carnage, and why the hell does the United States take it upon itself to continually intervene.

We have, since the 1950’s been involved with the area’s politics, policies and governmental leaders in a way to slant situations towards what we need and desire. We now find ourselves at another door-step to war, this time in Syria. It’s funny that our country seems to be riding along a bumpy road in a vintage 1950’s Cadillac that has used shock absorbers, and we have yet to hit the roughest road.

Our foreign policy should be one of peace, there are, of course, times when war becomes necessary, but thankfully it’s not often. America especially enjoys an almost privileged international position based on almost equal parts of good-will, military might, and a leading figure in the war on terror. Today the U.S. is without peer, terrorism is the most serious security threat, but seems to be only exacerbated by the promiscuous intervention in conflicts not America’s own.

Bombing, invading and occupying other nations creates enemies who want only to kick the crap out of the U.S. If there ever was a Poster Child of a nation that wages stupid wars, the United States would be the first in line. Lately we have waged war against weaker opponents, unless you call making war with presser cooker, and road side bombs a danger to our overall security.

Do not get me wrong, even the loss of one life here in the United States is too much, I detest the Boston Marathon bombing, I however also abhor the use of drones on innocent people by the United States, and it is being done under the guise of spreading freedom and an overall goal of democratizing countries that our government feels is under oppression.

HERE’S THE REAL SKINNY ON THE MIDDLE-EAST

Biblical prophecy and life in the 21st century wouldn’t seem to go hand in glove with Fox News, or CNN or MSNBC…..but for some reason it does. The Near Middle East is the birthplace of the world’s three great monotheistic religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and also the battlefield for each…..as they attempt to control the territory they consider to be holy.

This attitude is held to varying degrees by probably 75% of all the worlds’ peoples, the attitude is archaic; it is out of step with modern thinking. Even though a large part of religious people, (those that believe in a higher being) feel that certain beliefs, customs, or lands are holy, these same people clearly wouldn’t wage war.

So actually what we might have here in the Middle East is a kind of holy war…..undeclared, and not recognized as such, yet more than a civil war. The Middle East doesn’t have civil wars…..anyways in my opinion, they have ethnic cleansing, attempting to completely eradicate a sect of people that are viewed as infidels.

History backs up my opinion, unless you figure that the history of a land isn’t marked by the different periods of human carnage. The Akkadian expansion, 18 different periods of mass killing, pillages rapes, and downright attempts to extinguish a particular people.

Then you have the Early Iron Age, marked by 13 conflicts, or the Greco-Persian Domination, 16 additional wars, then the Roman, Parthian and Sassanid domination, another 65 listed wars, battles and sieges that covered more than the 500 years.

Next there were the Medieval Conflicts that covered more than 800 years and cost incalculable numbers of deaths, unless you take just a glance at the Ottoman Period conflicts, 1453 to 1918, 465 years, a time when reliable record keeping came into existence. During this period, Ottoman, Tanzimat Period, there were 80 recognized conflicts with thousands of deaths.

My point is simple, whether talking about the Near Middle East, or the modern Middle East, the area has been in constant conflict, and little of it was between warring nations military, the battles and wars, the sieges, and invasions were waged by simple goat herders, shepherds, farmers, and towns people. There was a minimal knowledge of military procedures and tactics, they fought for a belief, racial hatred, or to extract from their land…..the infidels.

The United States, to these people are little more than upstart young punks, and actually pose little threat, given the history of the Middle East, who has been at constant war since before the birth of Christ. In fact a huge contingent of the area’s religious people don’t even believe in Christ. The United States and her allies simply can’t defeat the countries that make up the area, and it’s high time that we…..as a people, came to understand and except that fact.

PERSIAN OIL……IT’S OURS

August 8, 1944 the Anglo-American Petroleum Agreement was signed, dividing Middle Eastern oil between the United States and Britain. By the end of the Second World War the United States came to consider the Middle Eastern region as the most important strategically important area of the world. As was usual, the area directly after the war was going through an upsurge in the popularity of nationalistic politics and an increase in the number of nationalistic political groups across the region.

Activity of the United States in the region during this time of turmoil was an almost behind the scenes movement, a movement to insure that the petroleum of the region would remain firmly under the control of the Americans.

The person who says that “America’s interest in the region is only to help the freedom of the people) is smoking some outstanding stuff…..because it’s the furthest thing from the truth that I can think of. Of course there might be a few people living in a bubble that might explain such thinking, but those are the only two reasons I can list for such warped thinking.

Its way past the time when the United States figured that it can get whatever it is that they want from occupying countries. At this point, only a fool doesn’t understand this fact. Long term military domination is unrealistic, it’s inefficient and an extremely costly method to get your way.

The era of making war…..at least for the United States is basically over, I believe that from 2011 to today, we have come very close to going bankrupt over the silly obsessive way we view (as a nation) what can be accomplished militarily. The history books are full of those follies. Let’s make peace and love, not war.

HAVE A NICE DAY!
