CONSERVATIVES V.S. LIBERALS…..THE ISSUES!

CONSERVATIVES V.S. LIBERALS…..THE ISSUES!

(Jared DeFife, AlterNet)
(Rush Limbaugh, Frazer Chronicle)

The terms “left” and “right” define opposite ends of the political spectrum, in the United States; liberals are referred to as the “left” or left wing, while conservatives are referred to as the “right” or right wing. On the United States political map, blue represents the Democratic Party (which generally upholds liberal principles) and the red represents the Republican Party (which generally upholds conservative principles).

Personally I feel as if the red and blue states, or the liberals and conservatives are nothing more than an easy way for the media to depict in an easier manner for them to identify for their readers or listeners the differences between the political persuasions in our country.

Don’t we basically want the same things out of life, freedom to live as we please; a chance at prosperity through the fruits of our labor, as few people suffering as possible, healthy children, crime-free streets, and the problem is how do we get these things? There are political powers at play that…..depending on your point of view, seems as if there is an ebb and flow to the lifestyles that can be generated by one political power as opposed to another.

There is, today, a political battle-ground that we are living in, some of us blissfully don’t realize this, while others choose to ignore this fact. Today there are two dominate political parties in the United States, the conservative or the Republican Party, and a liberal party, the Democrats. I realize that some might argue that there is a third party, Tea Party, but for this issue we’ll concentrate on just the Dem’s and the GOP.

To a degree, in today’s political world, people seem to want to pigeon-holed everything into neat categorys and be able to file everything in its proper place. It’s too bad that life isn’t like that, it would be easier to understand the trials and tribulations of our journey…..but hey, it’s just the way it is.

Everybody has issues regarding what roll our government should be playing in our lives, conservative usually say “as little as possible,” while liberals seem to believe in government action as a way to achieve equal opportunities.

Rush Limbaugh on his radio program yesterday talked about the “cancer that liberals represent to America’s way of life”…..of course I couldn’t disagree any stronger…..and in fact wonder why any intelligent, sane person would make such a statement. Oh wait, I know, Rush Limbaugh is one of those conservative shock jocks and how could I have forgotten that.

THE ISSUES AND THE DIFFERENCES

Actually what has happened in the United States is an almost equal split between the so-called liberals and the conservatives. We probably should have a political party called something like the MIDDLE OF THE ROADERS. For many people, whenever somebody like Rush Limbaugh puts his unchallenged vocal hit on somebody, some thing, or some organization, like me, it leaves them with a somewhat distorted image of how things really are.

I would say (and this is completely unscientific) that people in general do not view one political party as black or white, there are shades of colors to people’s beliefs…..people again…..in general aren’t as buffoonish as Rush Limbaugh. Thank God for small favors!

I’m neither a liberal nor a conservative, I think life begins at conception, unlike the standard liberal stance of “it’s a women’s body and she has the right to decide”. I do however believe that to abort because of incest, rape or medical problems does not cross any lines with regards to human life beginning at conception. To me life is precious no matter the stage that a fetus might be in, however if an abortion is chosen as the way to end a pregnancy is a women’s right…..she’ll just have to live with her decision for the rest of her life…..and I would hope the guilt would be overwhelming.

The question of Affirmative Action has been a conservative cop out for years, it’s a documented fact that people of color, people that live in the inner city, people without the proper diet, and people who come from broken inner city families do not receive the same education as suburban whites, or those in rural white households. However the Federal Government has, in my opinion done poorly in addressing the issue, and the problems included therein.

Affirmative Action has little to do with numbers, by equaling the numbers of workers between people of color and whites, what is, and has been done by the system is to place unqualified workers into positions where they have little chance to flourish as productive happy, and competent employees, and it pisses off co-workers.

The Death Penalty issue has been on the table for a long time, and both liberals and conservatives get a raspberry for their stance on the issue. To execute a murderer, a child molester, or a rapist…..to me is expedient, and takes care of a problem. To take a life is cruel and unusual…..however the death penalty should not be taken off the books…..possibly a case by case would be the best option.

The Economy must be regulated by the Federal Government…..unless you figure that industry and big business isn’t driven by a bottom line mentality…..let’s see, what’s the word that I’m searching for…..oh yeah…..GREED! Free markets, competitive capitalism, and private enterprise do not create the greatest opportunity and the highest standard of living for all.

Here’s where conservatives and I really, really part company, there is absolutely no way that I feel that Capitalism in the big picture needs governmental control…..unless you don’t believe that child labor was used up until the 1920’s and that people weren’t forced to work 10, 12, and 14 hour shifts six, and sometimes seven days a week…..oh and competitive pricing, when was the last time you bought a gallon of gas…..sure, try and shop around for the cheapest price per gallon.

I could go on, there’s the energy question, global warming and climate change…..and the big one, gun control. Let’s face the facts of a conservatives life…..they do not want anybody controlling any part of their lives.

Many conservatives are what I’d call BUBBLE-PEOPLE; they’ve completely failed to face an issue with an open mind. There are however issues that I totally agree with conservatives on. I’m still of the old school of sharing ideas is the best way to grow and progress. I hope that there’s more like me out there…..I really do.

HAVE A NICE DAY!
