NO CREDIBLE THREATS!

NO CREDIBLE THREATS!

(Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)

(USA.gov, Hayes Brown, F.A.S.)

(The Federal Eye, Frazer Chronicle)

Tucked away on page three in the front section of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel dated September 7, 2013 was an interesting picture of eight military looking guys on what were called personal watercraft taking part in a 1600 mile Never Quit Challenge Voyage. The event will benefit three charities that help military members and their families. The voyage started in Key West, Florida and will conclude in New York City on September 11.

In the foreground was an image of an American Flag, with a caption at the top of the photo which read, JETTING UP THEIR CHARITY EFFORTS. It struck me as a rather strange way to raise funds to help veterans, and their families. It must be understood that these men, all volunteers are going about a noble cause in a ridiculous and frivolous manner. Number one…..without a doubt these Jet Skis, (yeah that’s right,) the water craft aren’t personal watercraft they’re recreational jet skis that anybody who cares to, can buy at any local marina for $5 to $10 grand.

The accompanying article which was written by Eileen Sullivan got me to thinking pretty much because the article stated that the government was not aware of any credible or specific information that pointed to any terror plots tied to the anniversary of the September, 2001 attacks. However concerns about al-Qaida remain.

Intelligence from this past Thursday, September 5, talked about federal security agencies concerns remaining that al-Qaida and its affiliates are committed to carrying out attacks on Western targets. Four Americans were killed in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, on last year’s September 11, 2001 anniversary. Three others were killed this past April at the finish-line of the Boston Marathon and more than 260 others were injured when two men set off bombs.

I guess it’s the world that we live in today, bombs, terrorists, innocent victims killed, or worse, blown up and survive to live the rest of their lives maimed beyond repair. I’m not going to bore you with statistics from a war effort, or our victories and defeats…..I’ve already graphically listed all sorts of statistical information that illustrates the cost of the actions that we, as a country have taken.

STATISTICS ARE MEANINGLESS

People have understood the numbers for a long time…..mostly people have read the numbers and then ignored them. The numbers are way too depressing to be discussed, or dissected, especially when we come to the realization that we are partly to blame. Yeah that’s right, we are partially to blame, unless the United States isn’t a democracy anymore…..which maybe it isn’t.

In 1962 there were 2.48 million federal employees including the postal service, or 13.3 per 1,000 civilians, by 2010 that number had risen to 2.87 million, and 8.5 per 1,000 civilians. And these jobs at the public trough are to die for, wages are great…..and the benefits, no wonder these people don’t want Obama-care.

How could a person go wrong, what with a budget of $52.6 billion just for spying, for many of these people…..working on the federal dole is manna from heaven. At the present time there are at least 46 spook agencies to choose from…..and that does not include Homeland Security or the National Security Agency.

In addition there are more than 450 government departments and other agencies that people can choose from to settle into for their working careers. The actual numbers are a bit convoluted which comes as no big surprise, I’m sure some of these people feel like the fox in the hen-house, you know, somebody forgot to lock the door.

No matter whether they are departments or agencies, who is counting, and who cares, just get in line for the gravy train. And guess what, Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative, departments and agencies continue to be maintained, used, abused, and in some cases actually enlarged.

Personally I’m wondering how much longer we can afford to front these people and their departments or agencies. All the crap that we’re giving them has to stop at some date in the not too distant future, tax upon tax, upon tax, upon tax does get a bit frustrating…..and least to me.

A LIST OF JUST A FEW OF THESE ENTITIES

Military inspectors, intelligence and what I call control agencies make up more than 20% of our federal departments and agencies. From the Army, Navy, Marines, and the Air Force to the Bureau of Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to something called the Helsinki Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, we are well protected when we go to bed every night.

However as I said earlier, we pay for our safety, even maybe when we don’t really need it, we rely on what our military and political leaders tell us. I’m sure that we need the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau…..AND the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosive Bureau…..right?

Wait there’s more regarding both alcohol and tobacco, it’s in the Bureau Section, the above was in the Agency Section. It the B section there’s the Bureau of Alcohol and Tobacco Trade, (Treasury Department,) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive, (Justice Department.)

Has there ever been a time when several agencies and departments…..and their employees were falling all over one another. With the duel departments, and the employees involved, how can there possibly be a problem with enforcement…..damn, wait, that part….enforcement, is in the Judicial Department, sorry for the gaffer.

With all of these security departments at our disposal,  I wonder how those two alleged foreign brothers, (can’t pronounce their names, let alone spell them) got away with setting off a bomb for good old Islam or whatever their particular allegiance was, possibly on that particular day? I’m talking about the Boston Marathon bombers.

AGAIN IT MAKES NO SENSE

Much of what our intelligence gather organizations do is classified, as is the number of employees that are engaged in the work of security. There is one thing that I know, whenever possible these agencies or departments and their employees take full advantage of photo opportunities, radio or television interviews and talk about possible terrorist strikes.

It’s called job security, and it’s what many of these people are aware of and why they seek every opportunity to keep the pot boiling. As a nation we are in trouble on many fronts, and we need to quit falling for the stupid rhetoric that our government is spewing out.

We kind of remind me as a country, of my next door neighbor, Pete, Pete is 6’-5” weighs 293 pounds and like the man said, can wax your ass.  He doesn’t have to because everybody knows what he is physically capable of doing. Pete actually is a nice guy, is satisfied with his life, his wife, and his kids. Pete works as a brick layer for a local masonry contractor, and he’s my friend.

A part of why the United States hasn’t been attacked by terrorists is because we are like my neighbor Pete, we’re the 6’-5” 293 pound potential adversary…..if you cross us, we’ll jump up and wax your ass! Everybody knows it…..you’d have to be a fool to mess with Pete…..or in this case, the United States. Can’t we simply come to grips with that knowledge, act accordingly, pull in are war tentacles and let people live in peace?

HAVE A NICE DAY!
