I BE “MEAN MUGGIN YOU!”

(Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)

(Frazer Chronicle)

I’ll admit it…..I simply couldn’t turn down an opportunity to once again show why people having a license to conceal-carry firearms is not only ridiculous, its down-right dangerous. There was a story on the front page of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this morning, (Saturday, July 13, 2013) that at first was funny and stupid, but after consideration…..was dangerous as hell.

The incident involved two men, a black and a white…..and of course two different stories, however, one thing is crystal clear, shots were fired in a rolling exchange of gunfire that involved up to and including 100 rounds of ammunition. It was a miracle that nobody was hit during the exchange either inside the cars or innocent bystanders.

However one thing did became clear, neither Eric Adamany, nor Roy Scott were very good shooters…..nobody was hit during the gun battle which lasted for five-mile in an on again, off again encounter. I guess we should be thankful for small favors!

This story has all the ingredients of a Dirty Harry, Clint Eastwood movie, I expected a few “make my day” to be thrown around, or at least a “you feelin lucky punk…..well do ya?” Sadly these two combatants simply wanted to shoot at one another without hitting their targets.

The encounter started on the surface streets of Milwaukee and ended up on Interstate 43, between Milwaukee and Racine, Wisconsin. The encounter ended when Adamany on the south side of the city flagged down a patrol officer.

Meanwhile, Roy Scott, several blocks away from Adamany was telling police officers that he was carrying a .40 caliber Ruger handgun. Both men admitted that they had been in a gun battle, but, are you ready for this…..both said that “the other fired the first shot,” wow, can you believe that?

LET’S SORT THIS THING OUT

Both men were arrested after admitting that they had both fired their licensed firearms at one-another, luckily missing their targets. The scenario related to investigating officers…..by Eric Adamany is as follows:

“Adamany said that he had just left the Taco Bell near S. 14th and W. Burnham streets and pulled over to send a text message when a gold Dodge Magnum pulled up. A passenger in the gold car said, “What are you looking at white boy?” showed a chrome handgun and fired at Adamany’s car, hit the driver’s side mirror and then sped off.”

Adamany told a detective that he reached for his 9mm Beretta handgun immediately, but the safety was on. Adamany said that he then called 911 and began following the Dodge as it headed for the freeway and said that someone in the Dodge fired a few more shots at him. He said the two cars were swerving around other traffic before the Dodge left the freeway briefly and then re-entered, still heading north...

According to Adamany, it was at this point that he began emptying the magazine of his gun, shooting out the back window of the gold Dodge with his left hand while driving and using his phone with his right hand. At this point….if what he says is true, I have absolutely no doubt that Hollywood and the movies are his next destination.

The return fire from the gold Dodge hit Adamany’s radiator and the car began to overheat, it was at this point, according to Eric Adamany, he took aim at the Dodge’s back tires and unloaded several shots which hit their mark. Adamany said his cell was connected to 911 the entire time and that a recording will back up his story.

Roy Scott gives quite a different account of what started the fracas and the five mile gun battle that ensued. According to Scott, “when a blue car passed him and a friend and mean mugged him and flashed a black handgun,” he, Scott, grabbed his gun and displayed it before speeding away.

Soon the blue car was chasing him, Scott said, firing shots…..so I “fired back out of my driver’s window, pointing backwards over his shoulder with his right hand while steering with his left. I’ll tell you what, if Adamany isn’t signed to act in at least car chases, Roy Scott sure should be.

Scott finally exited I 43 because all of his tires had been shot out by the blue car and Eric Adamany, when the car rolled to a stop, both Scott and his passenger jumped out of the gold Dodge and ran away because Adamany was still shooting.

Adamany said that “he first took off after the gold Dodge because he thought it was the right thing to do,” I kept thinking “what about the next person, what if he didn’t have a gun.” Adamany also opinioned that he felt that maybe “Scott and his passenger where looking for a random person to shoot.” Honestly!

AND EVERYBODY WEIGHED IN

One of the neatest parts of writing a blog is the fact that the writer can offer his opinion because…..it’s expected, and anyways I don’t care what you think of my opinion. The gun battle was probably the result of several different issues that came into play…..kind of like a perfect storm.

Both men were issued a concealed carry license, and clearly neither should have been anywhere near the business end of a firearm. Mean-mugging, what in hell does that mean is it cause for somebody to put a bullet in the other guy’s head?

You know what some will say, “people kill people, not guns,” and that is true, I can’t recall ever reading about one guy fingering another person to death. Fingers do not hurl bullets at another; oh I suppose that it might be possible for a guy to finger another to death if he hit a vital organ…..but it’d be a one in a billion chance.

No without a doubt, these two guys were idiots, with completely messed up priorities and bizarre reaction to a situation that…..really wasn’t a situation. Hell, I used to mean mug people all the time, and the worst I ever got was, who are you looking at?

There is no way that first Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, and then Nik Clark, President of Wisconsin Carry Incorporated, a gun rights advocacy group chimed in with comments on the incident. Barrett when informed by his security staff this past Friday said that “this has been one of my concerns, (with the concealed-carry law), that things like road rage could turn out to be like the wild, wild, west.”

Nik Clark, a huge NRA advocate said that both “Scott and Adamany actions fell well outside of any kind of responsible gun owner training.” Clark sited at least five instances where permit gun holders stopped crimes, or saved a life with their weapons.

My take is a bit different than both the mayor, and the gun advocate guy, both are right, and both are wrong, loaded guns have absolutely no business in the hands of…..anybody! If somebody mean mugs another, they offended person should have the right to whack the others lips, not to shoot at him, making an unsafe situation for everybody that’s in the area.

Come on, are you out of your fricken mind, somebody makes a face at another, it’s like grade school crap, how about considering the source. And then you get the mayor and some wacko gun rights advocate using the incident for an op-ed, give me a break already.

Here’s my solution to the problem of people mad mugging others…..take the offender into custody, and give him 30 days in a work release program to clean the runways along the sides of the Milwaukee treatment plant…..hell, take both parties, the mad mugger, and the recipient and put them side by side cleaning the treatment facility…..bet it’d work!

HAVE A NICE DAY!
